Ouija Board And The Most Terrifying Experience Of My Life

Most terrifying experience of my life.

I'm a male. I'm 23 years old from slc Utah. This is my story.

The last year or so I've found an interest in Ouija boards and whether they're the real deal or just a bunch of bullcrap. I've spent many hours looking up and reading peoples stories and experiences they have had. I particularly enjoy reading ones submitted my guys because I feel they are more realistic and not made up like the majority of women that seem to just want attention. So I felt I had done enough research about Ouija boards that I was finally ready to try one out for real. The problem was I couldn't convince any of my friends to do it with me.

One night while my roommate was out of town I had a girl over at my apartment and we had a couple drinks and were talking and I brought up the subject of Ouija boards and to my surprise she was down for playing one with me. (Surprised because she had more balls than most of my guy friends that were too pussy to play) But we took a big piece of card stock and made a homemade Ouija board that looked pretty legit.

We lit candles, dimmed the lights, and tried to set the right mood to make this work. That last sentence sounds like it's leading somewhere sexual. So we asked question after question and just as I suspected... Nothing happened! We didn't give up easily either. We continually stayed at it for over an hour. I wanted it to work so badly. I began doing stuff that I knew were no no's with the board. I was calling it out and even mocking it. Telling it to do anything to prove it was real.
Now I know that was really stupid of me but I had a little bit to drink before it all and I probably was just acting like a macho tuff guy in front of the girl I was with. Well nothing happened and we decided to end and said goodbye to close the board because that's an important step when finished. The next morning I drove her home and I made her keep the board cuz I don't wanna keep that is in my apartment haha.

Well 4 days go by and every thing is all good. No paranormal things going on at all. This is the part where everything changes. It was a weeknight and I was playing Xbox with my roommate Sam till about 11:45 before I decided to go to bed. It probably took me about 15 minutes before I fell asleep around 12:15. At 12:45 I awoke to an extreme amount of pressure on my chest. (I was laying flat on my back in a mummy position with my hands on my chest and I NEVER sleep like that.)

I opened my eyes and there was a large black shadow over me pushing me down into my bed.. First thing I thought was OH MY GOD ITS HAPPENING TO ME and I closed my eyes from fear. (You see I had read about this happening to a few others with all the research I had done.) This was the most frightening and terrifying feeling I had ever felt in my entire life. I couldn't move at all. I didn't know what to do so I began yelling for my roommate for help. The problem was I had so much pressure on my chest I didn't have much air to yell with. And I was thinking in my head that I sound like I'm f-ing asleep but I Wasn't. I was consciously 100% awake. I began to pray for protection from Jesus Christ. After a couple minutes I felt the pressure come off my body and I was able to move again. NOTHING like that had EVER happened to me before.

I was shaking for hours after and didn't dare go back to sleep. For over a month I had to sleep with a light on in my room or I couldn't fall asleep. It's been 8 months since it happened and nothing else has occurred since. I don't think the sleep paralysis was any coincidence either. I truly believe it was a message not to mess with the unknown.

So there is my experience. It is 100% true and I hope you enjoyed it.

  1. I suspect that you had an attack of sleep apnoea (I think that's how it's spelt) and it was nothing to do with your attempt to contact the other side! Spirit people CANNOT physically harm you (and wouldn't if they could!) but you can get mischievous spirits on an ouija board and they're best left alone unless you have a 'doorkeeper' (your spirit guide, or a friend or relative who's passed on) who will make sure that no bothersome spirits get through.

    1. You could never be more wrong. Spirits CAN and WILL hurt you if you angered them. You must've never even play the Ouija Board or experienced anything with the paranormal so don't talk as if you know stuff when you don't.

  2. Mr. Anonomys, your an idiot. It is very possible this is true. I have had experiences a few times. And the last time i played with a board was almost 30l years ago. You cannot say what happened to someone else is not real. Trust me... This is very real.

  3. Hard to say......Josh, I had a similar situation about 2 years ago in my spare bedroom that I was sleeping in that night. Unlike yourself, I was not messing about with the Ouija board (haven't for over 15 years), but just going to sleep in our downstairs bedroom. @ 4am, I started feeling pressure on my chest and arms, and the room grew suddenly darker. I kept trying to rationalize it as me either dreaming it or that I was somehow doing it to myself. But i do recall struggling and not being able to move. Like you, I was scared, but wasn't fully convinced that it was a paranormal presence doing this to me. After a few minutes the pressure released and all was fine again. Haven't had a recurrence since. Someone told me that it could have been a case of sleep apnea or anxiety. But who knows for sure. Regardless, an unsettling event

  4. The original poster said they have done research on the boards, but he needs to do research on sleeping disorders. It sounds like a simple case of sleep paralysis. It is very common and can occur frequently or even just once for no apparent reason. To put it very simply, its a portion of your brain being awake but others still at sleep. This can cause you to be conscious enough to be alert but still asleep enough to not be able to move or still be in a dream. It can take seconds or minutes to break out of it and be fully conscious. Sleep paralysis can being very frightening and is most likely what happened. Your brain was partially awakened but not enouGh to regain control of your bodily functions. Your subconscious was probably still dreaming the "daemon holding you down."

  7. As others have pointed out, this was nothing more than sleep paralysis. People used to explain it as an old hag coming into your room at night and haunting you. I get sleep paralysis, and it's never scared me. It has to do with your expectations of the experience. When OP thought to himself "OMG IT'S HAPPENING TO ME" he tricked his brain into producing frightening hallucinations that reflected his concerns about the ouija board. Don't get me wrong, I totally believe in ouija boards and associated supernatural entities, but I'm confident you didn't encounter anything of that sort. This association between your experience and the ouija board is merely classical conditioning.

  8. Yep sleep paralysis - Google old hag syndrome. I get it all the time but never dabbled in ouija. Used to be scary but once you know it's nothing you can turn it into a lucid dream, had some amazing night adventures! There is no paranormal here, your own fears playing on your mind as you went to sleep. The more you get it the less scary it is. Try wiggling your toes to break out of it and try not to go straight back to sleep.

  9. I also suspect it was sleep paralysis, it's happens to me quite a bit. Once I even saw black figured shadows on the wall, by the time I was able push my body to move I was sobbing from fear. Most terrifying experience ever. But once I learned what it was I knew it was just my mind and body still being asleep and dreaming. FYI it usually only happens while sleeping on your back! When I was pregnant it happened at least once a month since I was not able to sleep on my stomach. If you catch yourself on your back change positions and it should prevent it. Hope that helps!

  13. Man your experience was just like mine to the t. Reading it gave me goosebumps. I however put up with it for a year before I finally decided to pray for it to stop. Hasn't happened since going on 10 years now. I will never play a Ouija board again.

  14. Why would men's stories be any more valid than a woman's? I don't think that women post stuff on this site to "get attention."

  17. Bull crap its happened to me to the night of playing with the board I know its not sleep paralysis I actually seen the clock it lasted 16 minutes before we t stopped

  18. I beleive sleep paralysis is a real demon messing with you I've awoke looked at the clock and then it happened something on me in my bed trying to kill me or get in me when it was done it was just a few minutes from the first time I looked at the clock. Can the mind know exactly what time it is when its sleeping I dont think so I fought something in my bed for at least 15 minutes I know for a fact I heard its foot steps before it got in the bed

  19. Most probably sleep paralysis, i suffer from this disorder almost every night.. despite my strong belief in the paranormal, some things can be explained scientifically.

    1. They only want you to THINK there's a scientific reason behind it. Otherwise it would produce mass hysteria if people found out the truth that there really ARE demonic entities bent on their plans of spiritual warfare.

(Had you there, didn't I? But what if I'm saying is true?...
Because, think about it. Why would people experience practically the same thing during sleep paralysis? I, myself, have experienced a pretty terrifying ordeal with the old hag syndrome while attempting obe. Perhaps our awareness shifts between sleep and awake to encounter things that are REALLY there, that our normal physical 'logical' mind doesn't acknowledge.
Same with ndes. Why so many people (although all anecdotal, of course) claim to experience quite similar events with the afterlife? Our brain's fight or flight trigger? ... yeah... not buying it. Makes more sense to me that there really is something more to life (and death) that as of yet cannot be explained scientifically.)

  20. I have had a similar experience, i am a very spiritual person and believe strongly in the spiritual world. I have never done a ouija board myself. One night I was lay in bed with my boyfriend at the time and i felt something pushing me down very hard in to the bed, it felt like it was my boyfriend has his hands round my throat and and was kneeling on my legs (i was lay on my side). I tried to shout to my boyfriend to stop when all i heard was my boyfriend woke up and said why are you shivering so much, i couldnt speak and then i just felt this go away and started shouting theres a presence about 2 or 3 times. i fell straight back to sleep and my boyfriend said he just lay their all night. I wansn't scared by this experience but do strongly believe that there was a spirit/presence in my bedroom with me that night.

  25. I started to read through these stories yesterday and last night I had the first sleep paralysis ever with all kinds of terrifying demonious figures or so ever. So that's why I think this kind of stuff might just subconsciously get to your head in a way that causes the sleep paralysis attack.

    1. Maybe you just had a dream that you had sleep paralysis?.. I'd need to hear how it felt as you were falling into the sleep paralysis and how it felt during and how you awoke. I'd need to hear the dream

  26. I'm sorry but I'm very offended about your comment about women. Please use your words more wisely and respect women.

  27. I'm only commenting because I see sooooooo many people reffer to a "doorkeeper" or a "spirit guide"
    Neither of those things exist.
I'm not a particularly religious person, so I don't want to give the wrong impression of being a religious cook or something.
But I have had my fair share of run ins with the paranormal. I too made and played a home made Ouija board, but I played it with my sister. And because of the things that have happened I feel it is important to educate, anyone who will listen, about just how dangerous these Ouija boards can be.
Good spirits, or the spirits of passed on loved ones, that come and talk to you can't speak to you about anything other than how they miss you, to tell you that they are sorry about something they did while alive, or just to see you. They can't do anything more than just that.

    Now that that's cleared up

The Ouija board opens a kind of door into the paranormal world. By playing a Ouija board, even for a second, you are giving spirits (whether they are good or demonic -- and a huge majority of the time it's going to be demonic) permission to come in and attatch themselves to you, or to your home, or even an inanimate object you have. And that dopr doesn't close, not ever. Not unless your house is blessed or excorcised by a member of the church.
Many people think by simply ending the Ouija session by saying "goodbye" is what closes the doorway. That is completely untrue. It never closes. Don't get me wrong, you could get lucky and have nothing ever happen to you that is a very rare thing to happen, though.

Now, onto the subject of these "spirit guides"

These "doorkeepers" or ""spirit guides" are completely false beings. No matter how convincing they are. No matter how many things they tell you that end up being true. They are a demonic pressence. A false pressence that can take the form of or imitate whatever they want. They are masters of manipulation and disguise. May I remind you, all demonic pressences watch you during parts of your life so they can know many many many true aspects of your life, or the life of others that you know. They could even tell you things about somebody that you have never met. And this is a very good tactic because it can completely convince you tha it is something that it is not. That's what makes them so scary.
The only purpose they have in your life is to gain your trust. They want to give you false advise, make promises that they will make your life better in some way. They want to get inside and bring your guard completely down. Bring you up to the best you have ever been. Then when you're there they will tear you down and take away/ make you lose everything you love. These demonic presences wants to make you miserable. To make your life a living hell.

Ouija boards are not a good thing to mess with. I used to think it was so cool, but now there is no way I'd ever even think about using one, or even be around people who have used one, ever again. Those things are dangerous, if you plan on playing one, and you haven't yet, I advise you to seriously rethink that. No good things come from the use of a Ouija board.
